BANGON KABATAAN
OPERATION: BLOOD PRESSURE
February 14, 2009
Last February 14, 2009, at 3 o’ clock in the afternoon, selected students from different schools and universities assembled in the worship hall of Jesus Is Lord Church – General Santos City Branch. A total of fifteen people formed the group, composed of twelve college students and one high school student. One Registered Nurse accompanied the group and was supervised by Mr. Darwin Mendoza, the head of Operation: Blood Pressure.
The purpose of this activity is to provide free blood pressure screening and health teaching to as many people as possible, especially people who have no access to medical check-up.
The targets of this activity are the people near the Jesus Is Lord Church: the residents of Sitio Toning, Rosario Village, Agan Centro II and along Arradaza Street.
At 4 o’ clock in the afternoon, despite the unpredictable weather, Operation: Blood Pressure was put into action. The group was divided into three teams in order to reach as many people as possible. The steps done are introducing the group and the activity to be done, listing general information of the person (name, age and address), obtaining the blood pressure, and giving health teaching most especially to persons who either have a high or low blood pressure.
The activity ended at exactly 5 o’ clock in the afternoon. It ended successfully and the students when home with the gratitude of the people whom this program has reached out to. In this way, Bangon Kabataan was able to show their love to their brethren in celebration of Hearts Day.
